For the purpose of carrying out legal aid activities and improving the social outreach activities of the University, NALSAR Legal Aid Group (N-LAG) was constituted by the Social Responsibility and Student Welfare Committee (SRSWC) in January, 2019.
The Social Outreach and Legal Awareness division is responsible for conducting legal awareness activities and camps in nearby villages and schools. It also makes and distributes relevant pamphlets and posters and conducts legal awareness sessions in villages at regular intervals, among other activities.
The Legal Aid Research division researches and develops effective and efficient means of spreading legal awareness and providing legal aid to various individuals and communities.
The Legal Aid Clinic is tasked with drafting and filing cases, PILs, RTIs, etc, and is meant to effectively assist socially/economically disadvantaged individuals/communities with court procedures.
In the past one year, N-LAG has conducted legal awareness camps, collaborated with Save The Children and UNHCR to work on matters related to refugees, prepared a Module on Panchayati Raj for the members of Gram Panchayat, etc.
